Oilgae - Glossary

Carbon neutral - Definition, Glossary, Details - Oilgae

Carbon neutral - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Being carbon neutral, or carbon neutrality, refers to neutral (meaning zero) total carbon release, brought about by balancing the amount of carbon released with the amount sequestered or offset. Various special interests attempt to promote a use of the term that refers to carbon reduction, which is clearly not neutral.

Carbon neutral - Climate change is a serious problem affecting all of us.  Our current carbon dioxide emission levels are causing global warming and are unsustainable for the planet.

Carbon Neutral - The David Suzuki Foundation is a science-based Canadian environmental organization, working to protect the balance of nature and our quality of life, now and for future generations.

What is Carbon Neutral? - carbon neutral means removing as much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as we put in. How can we remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere? One way is to buy carbon offsets. This supports projects like a wind farm or solar park. It helps make clean energy more affordable. It reduces future greenhouse gas emissions to make up for our travel and electricity use today.

 Carbon neutral

A term applied to individuals, businesses, or organizations whose practices contribute zero carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere. Source

A marketing term used to entice consumers with guilty consciences. Carbon neutral claims are a form of subsidizing efficiency programs that are usually good projects, but do not capture and neutralize the carbon emitted by the original polluting activity supposedly being mitigated. Source
