 Russia to Build First Major Ethanol Plant – Green Car Congress, Apr 2006

 Russian Biofuels Association - Russian Biofuels Association promotes renewable fuels in Russia - bioethanol & biodiesel. To achieve its goals the Association works with various government and non-government stakeholders in Russian and Former Soviet Union countries.

 Biofuel Bill to Go to Duma - The Federation Council, with the support of the Agriculture Ministry, has prepared a bill for introduction into the State Duma to lower the excise tax on bioethanol fuel to encourage the development of bioenergy in Russia. Tax breaks are being proposed for oil refineries that add alcohol to their fuel. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Vladimir Gusev at the Fuel Bioethanol 2007 congress. Read the full news item here (Apr 2007)

 Red tape, taxes stall Russian biofuel plans - High taxes and bureaucracy are obstructing plans by Russian companies to launch production of bioethanol as a cheaper and environmentally friendly alternative to gasoline, industry and government officials said on Tuesday. They said more than 10 Russian companies had announced plans to produce bioethanol from grains, but none of the potential producers wase willing to proceed until laws were eased.  Russian Nefis Cosmetics To Build $384.5 Mln Bioethanol Plant in Tatarstan - Russian company Nefis Cosmetics plans to build a 10 bln Russian roubles ($384.5 mln/288.4 mln euro) plant for the production of bioethanol in the republic of Tatarstan, east of Moscow, it was reported on March 28, 2007. The new plant will process about one million tonnes of wheat, from which 350,000 tonnes of bioethanol and 120,000 tonnes of protein will be produced per year.  Poltava Region To Construct Plant On Production Of Bio-diesel with Capacity Of 75,000 Tons Per Year By 2009 - Poltava region has agreed with a Czech investor to construct a plant on production of bio-diesel with the capacity of 75,000 tons per year by 2009.  Russia to Build Two Biofuel Production Lines - Russia plans to build two biofuel production lines, said Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev.According to Gordeyev, one project has already been launched in Omsk and the other is to be located in Western Russia. Biodiesel fuel is to be made of rape and bioethanol of grain. Gordeyev went on that talks are under way on raw material supplies to Europe for biofuel production. Gordeyev pointed out that in the EU biofuel is to account for at least 5.75% of total motor fuel by 2010. Read the full news item from here (March  2007)

 State-run Enterprise "Bioethanol" to be Set Up on "KYIVSPYRT" Bases - The State-run enterprise "Bioethanol" will be established on the bases of the city union "KyivSpyrt"; the new enterprise will be involved in coordinating activity of Ukrainian spirits plants converted to the bioethanol production, the "UkrSpyrt" holding reported.
