- Log Pipeline Costs Less and Uses Less Energy Than Conventional Transportation Methods - Traditional coal transportation by truck and rail is costly, consumes a great deal of energy, and contributes to environmental and safety problems. A new system of delivering coal and other materials via pipelines will greatly lessen these drawbacks. The new technology created at the Capsule Pipeline Research Center at the University of Missouri uses less energy and costs less than current technology coal slurry pipelines. The new technology compresses coal or other materials, such as agricultural products or biomass, into cylinders (called logs or capsules) 5% to 10% thinner than the transportation pipeline. Water suspends and moves the logs through the pipe. In addition to being more cost effective, the capsule pipeline is also more environmentally sound than conventional transportation since the coal logs eliminate coal dust erosion of the pipe interior and erosion of coal fines by rain at the power plant storage site. - New Mode of Surface Transportation for 21st Century: Autoway - Reston, Virginia, November, 2004 - Acroscape releases the technical design of Autoway, a new mode of surface transportation. Autoway is an advanced autonomous transportation system for passengers and light freights, with a focus on commuting and e-commerce. It offers a comprehensive solution to traffic congestion, oil dependence, air pollution, and traffic safety. The company hopes that the publication of the technical design of Autoway will speed up the worldwide development and adoption of the new transportation system.
- Autoway uses small, autonomous, electric vehicles for one passenger on a tri-rail guideway. The guideway is less than three foot wide and it can be constructed as an overhead structure with a minimum impact on existing roads and buildings due to its small space requirements.
- The company says that Autoway provides a global solution to traffic related problems: traffic congestion, air pollution, energy shortage, and traffic accidents. The company also says that Autoway provides a cost-effective system for local delivery of light freights.

- Vehicle energy conservation indicating device and process for use - Document Type and Number: United States Patent 4186296 - Abstract: A vehicle energy conservation indicating device comprising an integrated instrument cluster functioning basically as a nomographic computing mechanism. The odometer distance traveled indicator computing mechanism is linked with the fuel indicating gauge mechanism such that a three variable equation computing mechanism is obtained. The three variables are distance traveled, quantity of fuel consumed and distance traveled per unit of fuel consumed. Energy conservation is achieved by operating the vehicle under such performance conditions as to produce the highest possible value for distance traveled per unit of fuel consumed. The instrument panel cluster brings the operator's attention to focus upon and continuously stimulated to conserving energy. Furthermore, the vehicle energy conservation indicating device can be adapted for recording these performance variables on tape type print out. The speedometer advises the vehicle operator when he is obeying or breaking the speed laws which are enforced and monitored by the police with specific punishment prescribed for violations of the law. At ths time there is no comparable procedure for enforcing vehicle energy conservation. Thus, this direct read out of distance traveled per unit of energy will moderate the operation in an analogous manner similar to subliminal advertising. This device becomes the focal point of the instrument panel along with the speedometer, thereby providing constant motivation to obey both the speed and energy conservation laws.
