China’s Sinopec to Partner with U.S.’s Sapphire Energy
Sapphire Energy, pioneering in Green Crude production, signed U.S. – China Eco partnership program with Sinopec to produce algae- derived renewable crude oil. This is one of the six partnerships between the two countries to work on clean energy, climate change and environmental protections. Sapphire Energy CEO Cynthia Warner on talking about the partnership on 17th July, has stated that the two companies will work together to produce crude oil from algae with favorable economics so as to integrate into existing fuels distribution networks. This will substantially benefit by reducing CO2 emissions in both nations.
The CEO adds that China, being the most populous country has growing demand for renewable and low carbon solutions for energy. Also, China strongly supports such a sustainable, greener and cleaner fuel options with the availability of large area of non- farmable land and non- potable water. Sapphire Energy considers algae to energy- technology as a promising solution in the attempt to create a sustainable fuel option.
