Algae.Tec’s Photobioreactors Headed for Australia
Algae.Tec has successfully shipped its first Photobioreactor from its Algae Development and Manufacturing Center in Georgia, USA to Nowra, Australia. The photobioreactors would capture carbon dioxide waste from power stations and feed it to the algae system. The company plans to continue production till the mid of 2012 and aims to ship about four more PBRs within the next few weeks to the Shoalhaven One Australian showcase facility at Nowra. Algae.Tec assembles the PBRs in its Georgia facility.
Algae.Tec offers solutions for carbon emitting companies that seek carbon dioxide reduction technologies. It is one of the very few advanced biofuel companies with a technology that enables algae to grow on an industrial scale.
The Algae.Tec solution is less than one tenth the land footprint of pond growth options, while its enclosed module system is designed to produce algae biomass in virtually any environment. The system is designed to deliver the highest yield of algae per hectare and, importantly, does not require the use of food producing land for biofuel production.
