A Recent Patent on Improved Raceway System for Cultivating Algae
A patent entitled ‘Raceways for Cultivating Algae’ filed by Hatcher et al., addresses the foregoing drawbacks of algae cultivation techniques through the provision of one or more precipitators along the raceway pond for cultivating algae. At these precipitators, the algal biomass produced in the raceway is precipitated and concentrated.
The precipitators are cyclone precipitators positioned successively along the raceway. The raceway pond further comprises a means for selectively removing the concentrated algal biomass from each precipitator.
