DuPont to Buy FMC Division that Owns Rockland Seaweed Processor
DuPont has acquired FMC Corp, the owner of Rockland seaweed processor, as part of a transaction involving FMC’s Health and Nutrition business. FMC, in turn, will acquire a portion of crop protection business required to be divested by a European Commission ruling related to DuPont’s merger with Dow Chemical.
Rockland seaweed processing plant produces carrageenan which is a common food additive produced from the red seaweed. It is predominantly used owing of its gelling, thickening and stabilizing properties.
