Pilot-scale Bubble Column Photobioreactor Culture of a Marine Dinoflagellate Microalga Illuminated with Light Emission Diodes
Researchers from Spain have performed an experiment to scale up the production volume of marine algal dinoflagellate Karlodinium veneficum using bubble column photobioreactor. LEDs were used as the light source.
Results showed that the final cell concentration in the scaled up photobioreactor was nearly 12 x 105 cells ml-1. Thus the biomass of the dinoflagellate was scaled up to 80L using bubble column photobioreactor.
