New Seaweed-based Material Could Replace Plastic Packaging
A new Japanese design company AMAM is developing an eco-friendly product to package goods. The product,
Agar Plasticity, is derived from agar obtained from red marine algae.
The manufacturing process involves dissolving of agar powder in water and pouring it into a mold which is then allowed to freeze for approximately 2 days. The frozen agar forms a structure which can be used for packaging.
