Algenol Launches Algae Fuels Demonstration Project in India
Algenol and Reliance Industries have successfully launched India’s first Algenol algae production platform. The demonstration module is located near the world’s largest refinery, Reliance Jamnagar Refinery.
The main aim of the project is to demonstrate the rapid growth of Algenol system in India and the ways in which integration of refinery operations is to be done with Algenol’s platform by the two companies. The demonstration has completed several production cycles but now it mainly focuses to demonstrate the production capabilities of Algenol’s advanced fuel producing algae and systems.
The advanced fuels production process involves conversion of 1 metric tons of CO2 into 144 gallons of fuel while recycling CO2 from industrial processes and converting 85% of CO2 used into ethanol, gasoline, diesel and jet fuels. This technology is successfully operating at Algenol’s Fort Myers, Florida, headquarters.
