Isomerizing Alkoxycarbonylation Can Transform Algae Oil To High Quality Chemical Raw Material
Researchers at the University of Konstanz, Germany developed a transformation process called Isomerizing alkoxycarbonylation. Professor Stefan Mecking from University of Konstanz says that this process can transform the algae oil to a high quality chemical constituent. This will benefit a number of chemical based industries. The professor adds that the algal oil has a different structure that makes attractive for the production of entirely different materials rather than conventional oils do. During alkoxycarbonylation, a functional group from the centre of the molecule is transformed into an ester group at the end of molecule.
