Algix’s Algae Based Bioplastiics
One of the interesting algae product’s that we recently came through is the algae bioplastics manufactured by Algix. Algix uses nutrient rich waste water for cultivating algae and uses the biomass obtained to produce bioplastic materials. This blog post is to bring more light on Algix’s Bioplastics.
ALGIX, LLC has limited world-wide exclusive license agreements on patent pending technologies from the University of Georgia and Kimberly-Clark for the production of bioplastics from aquatic biomass, such as algae. The research at ALGIX is developing novel formulations and production processes for their Solaplast product line of bioplastic materials from various types of biomass. Algix’s product development is aimed at producing biodegradable and bio-sourced polymers for a variety of applications such as, disposable packaging containers for dry and liquid goods, consumer goods, agricultural & horticultural films and products and other novel material applications.
Algix also has a division called “ALGENT” which specializes in algae biomass production for converting into value added products
