Genesis Biofuels in a JV with Abundant Energy Solutions
Genesis Biofuel Inc. a designer and builder of carbon sequester and algal biodiesel refineries, recently announced the signing of an MoU with Abundant Energy Solutions (AES), an affiliate of the Colorado Energy Research Technologies (CERT), for the forming of a joint venture to engineer and construct Algal Biofuel Refineries.
According to Harvey A Dorren, president and CEO of Genesis Biofuel, Abundant Energy’s technologies for lighting, algae harvesting and oil extraction will help them in a big way in increasing their veral efficiency. He added that their collaboration will also offer technology solutions for other applications such as algae-based wastewater treatment for biofuel production.
Joe Nieusma, CEO of AES, says that both Genesis and AES are poised to advance algae to biofuel conversion as well as utilization of the resultant algae biomass as a feedstock for downstream cellulosic ethanol production.
The JV aims to complete their combined technology Demonstration Laboratory within next 3 months and it will be located in AES’s Research facility in Englewood, Colorado. This will lead to the construction of their Pilot Facility at a cement plant location. The timetable of which is tentatively scheduled to begin first quarter 2013.
