Heliae Breaks Ground on Arizona Demonstration Facility
Algae fuel company Heliae has begun construction at the 20 acres demonstration facility adjacent to Heliae’s Gilbert, Arizona headquarters. The construction is expected to go for 18 months. This facility will showcase the scalability and economics of Heliae’s algae technology platform. According to Frank Mars, the company’s co-founder and chairman, this advancement from R & D to demonstration scale will be an important step in Heliae’s journey towards commercialization.
Heliae has plans to build several facilities across the world, and expand its presence beyond North America, as the company is now well-positioned with the recent investment from Salim Group. Recently, Heliae sold its first barrel of algae-based jet fuel to its partner SkyNRG.
