Cellana LLC to Ramp Up Production at its Hawaii Demonstration Facility
Cellana LLC, a Hawaii based developer of algae-based biofuels and bioproducts is all set to ramp up commercial scale production of algae biofuels. their commercial scale algae facitlity would be the first of its kind in the U.S
With over $100 million investment for developing algal strains and production technology, the company has now come up with a unique and patented process for growing algae in large scale and have demonstrated promising results. following extensive investigation of over thousand strains, they have come up with state of the art technology and potent strain that could produce over 60 ton biomass and an equivalent 3800 gallon algae oil per acre per year. The pilot scale facility is able to produce fairly high quantities fo biomass and it is high time for the company to scale up.
The company has already been working with the National Alliance for Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts, the Department of Energy, and a few other corporate partners and investros to evaluate significant quantities of biomass produced at its six-acre demonstration facility at Kona, Hawai.
The company is now focusing on testing the algae for further high value applications such as, aquaculture feed, animal feed, cosmetics, industrial chemicals and other valuable products while simultaneously reducing industrial emissions of CO2.
