New PBR Manufacturing Facility in Atlanta
Algae.Tec’s new Photobioreactor manufacturing is to function in Atlanta.
Algae.Tec (http://algaetec.com.au/ ) is an advanced biofuels company commercializing high-yield algae growth technology to manufacture sustainable fuels such as bio diesel and green jet fuel.
With an area of 18,000 square foot, the new plant will fabricate Algae.Tec’s algae production system. The plant’s location was chosen mainly by Earl McConchie, executive director and creator of the algae system.
The warehouse setting described by the company’s Managing Director Peter Hatfull seems to be overly ordinary, the main component used in the algae system shows the company’s effort to maintain costs and operate using readily available technology. They use a relatively standard 40-foot shipping container, which is available anywhere.
Fabricators and workers will set up the complete algae module in about four months. The Algae.Tec platform is based around a controlled environment within the shipping container that maximizes surface area and sunlight penetration, allowing the algae to grow. The systems are suited for carbon capture and algae oil production, the company said.
Hatfull claims that the cost estimates for each module is about $125,000, which includes light collectors, CO2 collectors and engineering costs.
