DOE Investment Supports Scale-Up of SRSenergy AlgaFrac Platform.
Press Release
Solution Recovery Services, an employee owned industry leader in oil separation and purification systems partnered with Touchstone Research Laboratory a privately owned, U.S. Small business with principal operations
in Triadelphia, W.V.
The project team has successfully secured $6.2 MM in funding from the Department of Energy to support field piloting of Algal-Biofuel technology as a ‘Beneficial Re-Use of Carbon Dioxide’. This project will demonstrate a process for capturing and re-using CO2 from a small, industrial source operating on coal, utilizing algae grown in open ponds under Technology Area 2, “Innovative Concepts for Beneficial CO2 Use,” of the Funding Opportunity Announcement.
A unique component of the project is that a phase change material will be utilized in the open-pond approach to tackle operational
challenges facing the algae cultivation community.
The grown algae will be harvested on-site during the operations phase of the project and the lipids will be extracted and converted to approximately 2,000 gallons of biofuel in an off-site biomass fractionation process, by SRSenergy of Dexter, MI. In response to increased demands in algal biomass processing capabilities, SRSenergy has announced plans to scale their wet-fractionation platform from batch to a continuous flow platform capable of processing 30gph of a 20% TSS wet-biomass.
About Solution Recovery Services Energy (SRS Energy)
SRSenergy, leaders in separation and purification systems have developed AlgaFractm a wet-fractionation process. Receiving a biosolids input ranging from 10 – 20% TSS, the AlgaFractm platform enable farmers of algal biomass to maximize product value through recovery and conversion of lipid, carbohydrates and protein components.
Having completed core R&D for over 3 years, SRSenergy leads the market with a series of products and services tailored to for all stages of RD&D through commercialization. Contact SRSenergy to learn more about maximizing the value of
any algae crop using AlgaFractm.
