NAA – Call for Presentation
Press Release
What if… all American algaepreneurs, producers, researchers, technologies, harvesting, extraction and equipment manufacturers and engineering companies who agree that algae could be one solution to help get the US off of foreign oil joined together in an open collaborative environment and developed preliminary designs for a 100 acre commercial-scale algae production system, identifying the majority of the CAPEX and OPEX issues? Well, almost 3 years later, the National Algae Association has accomplished this, and we believe we can achieve production with American algae research, technologies, equipment and workers. The NAA has challenged the industry to build the first 100 acres, to prove out true costs and economies of scale, and to give algae researchers opportunities, for the first time, to work in a commercial-scale setting.
The National Algae Association’s next conference, September 23-24, 2010 at the Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, will focus on innovations and progress in growing, harvesting and extraction methods, along with proven technologies that are ready for commercial-scale algae production. Please submit your proposed presentations no later than July 31, 2010 for consideration.
Due to the continuing volatility in oil prices, the lack of jobs in the US and the funds already dedicated to research, the current world instability and the unfortunate catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico that has made us even more concerned with our energy future, commercializing the algae industry is now on the fast track. People from 49 states and 11 countries have registered for our past conferences to pool their knowledge, experience, resources and curiosity with algae producers, algae researchers and algae equipment companies. Collaboration, innovation and commercialization are the motivating factors of our organization. We are making great strides in moving the algae production industry forward.
