Algae Biocrude Oil & Co-Products
Press Release:
It’s one solution to help the US reduce its dependence on foreign oil and create new green jobs.
The algae industry is quickly moving technologies out of the lab and into commercial-scale algae production. Many new algae production plants are scaling-up to produce algae oil and biomass for co-products. Algae proven technologies are being benchmarked for commercial use and implemented today in the scale-up of the new algae production industry. Enhanced research will surely continue as algaepreneurs move into commercial-scale algae production. Algaepreneurs are united in wanting to help the US get off of foreign oil, create jobs and help reduce CO2 emissions. Since the government is moving slow into commercial-scale algae production, algaepreneurs have taken on the task of scaling-up algae production farms throughout the US.
Next on our agenda to continue the pressure to fast-track commercialization of algae is a repeat of the highly popular Algae Production Certification Program, which will be held in Houston on July 27-28, 2010. We will distribute information about the two-day course later this month.
The next two-day conference will be in Houston, September 23-24, 2010. If you are interested in making a presentation, email info@nationalalgaeassociation with an outline of your topic as soon as possible.
With an eye toward young water-process and civil engineering, talent leading the future development of the algae biofuel and biomass industry, the National Algae Association and Algae Industry Magazine.com are collaborating to produce, sponsor and host a collegiate scholarship that is sure to become an annual landmark event in the algae industry – The A-Games. This scholarship competition will focus on the algae production areas of Growing, Harvesting and Extraction, and will pit academia against one another, bringing the best and brightest young minds and their unbridled creativity together with the business and investment communities. Some of the companies that have agreed to participate are Sapphire Energy, Origin Oil, Solazyme, BARD Holding, Emerging Markets Online and BioCentric Energy, and the list continues to grow.
This is a great opportunity to stimulate the minds of the next generation of algaepreneurs while at the same time making algae production more exciting, important, and successful for the future of our industry and the world. The publicity, public appreciation and acceptance of our industry are important, so we must work together in making this competition a success.
Please contact NAA at info@nationalalgaeassociation.com or Algae Industry Magazine publisher and marketing director Bill Laski at Bill@AlgaeIndustryMagazine.com for complete details on The A-Games promotional opportunities.
Algae oil is renewable, does not affect the food channel and consumes CO2. Come learn about algae oil as a potential feedstock to help become self-sustainable. It’s one solution to help the US reduce its dependence on foreign oil and create new green jobs.
The National Algae Association, a 501(c)6, is the first algae trade association in the US with chapters throughout the country to assist algaepreneurs create algae production plants to provide biodiesel producers with a renewable feedstock. Algae oil can be made into biodiesel, ethanol, biogasoline, jet fuel and bioplastics. Algae biomass can be made into many different co-products such as nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and organic fertilizer.
Algae production plants are scaling-up to produce both algae oil and biomass for co-products. Algae research will continue but proven technologies are being implemented today in the scale-up of the new algae industry. Enhancements will surely continue as algaepreneurs move into commercial-scale algae production.
The algae industry is quickly moving technologies out of the lab and into commercial-scale algae production. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be involved in this emerging industry! You do not have to be a member of the NAA to attend or participate in any of our events. All you need is an interest in collaborative sharing of information to help develop turn-key algae production in the US as one solution to get the US off of foreign oil.
