Solazyme’s Algal Flour from Algae

Solazyme (SZYM) is testing one another new product from algae, to survive in the algae biofuel industry. The big product that Solazyme is testing and has had approved by food regulators is so-called whole algal flour. This is the residue of crushed algae that can be used to replace butter and eggs in breads or other foods. Solazyme has named this product as algalin. Solazyme believes that the nutrition market is one of SZYM’s largest opportunities and expects to launch this product more quickly into the market. Solazyme’s flour products are produced at the company’s facility in Peoria, Illinois. Earlier the company has been in joint venture with the France based food producer Roquette Frères.
