New Energy Efficient Flow Control Systems for Hydro Power Plants

Chinese engineering firm, NF Energy Saving Corporation announced that the company has obtained two new patents for its inlet valves for use in the hydro power plants. NF Energy was awarded an invention patent for the ‘butterfly valve body dynamic seal ring pointing device’ and a new application patent for its ‘butterfly valve with butterfly plate adjusting device’.

The dynamic seal ring pointing device was awarded an invention patent, it is used in the inlet valve of hydro power plant. NF Energy’s propriety valve pointing devise has distinct advantages, it provides warning signals, which can be timely sent out with clear instructions. Long term stability of seal ring is achieved through the reduced number of parts. Additionally, the valve pointing device provides greater efficiency, according to NF Energy it saves hydro power due to its easier operation in maintenance, adjustment and replacement of equipment. The valve’s smaller resistance is achieved by optimizing structure.

The butterfly plate adjusting device, is used in the large dimension vertical butterfly valve, the propriety device was awarded a new application patent. It is effective in the reduction of friction and the subsequent wear and tear of bottom valve shaft. The adjusting device is also effective in the prevention of internal leakage. As a result the product achieves energy savings and an extension to the valve's operational life.

Hydro-power from Coriolis Force Caused by Spin of Earth

After more than a decade of getting the cold shoulder from business and sceptical academics, Melbourne inventor and barrister Paul Kouris, 53, is on the cusp of commercially demonstrating his patented dream of generating green power from water vortices.

The precise physics may be unproven -- and according to some academics, it's impossible -- but Mr Kouris's determination to tap energy from the "Coriolis" force generated by the spin of the earth has now been backed by a $40,000 grant from Sustainability Victoria.

Traditional physical theory suggests that the fall of a body of water can produce only a fixed amount of energy, and the key to maximising that energy is to have a turbine operating as efficiently as possible. But Mr Kouris asserts that by adding a vortex -- the whirlpool we see running down our plugholes -- his turbine can increase energy generation by 5-25 per cent.

Hydro-Hydraulic Invention for Micro-hydro Power Generation

Pakistan inventor Sarfraz Ahmad Khan has been working hard to develop new hydro technologies like this hydro power invention. His latest concept features the run of river active setup of micro hydro power generation blended with basic principals of hydraulics. This concept explores the possibility of transmitting the (collective) mechanical power gained from run-of-river hydro setup by converting it into hydraulic pressure. The sum-up of hydraulic pressure will make the main generators work. The basic concept requires hydraulic systems that can help to us to gain some reasonably good mechanical advantages. The hydro-mechanics will convert the mechanical force into hydraulic pressure. The collective hydraulic pressure shall be utilized to rotate the generator shaft.

Hydro Power Invention - No Reservoirs Required

Hydro Power Invention - No Reservoirs Required

April 11th, 2007 - Alternative Energy Info

A new hydro power technology is being developed by Sarfraz Ahmad Khan of Pakistan. In theory these hydro plants would not require a reservoir and would have a minimal impact on the environment. They could be run side-by-side in rows and would be much cheaper to build, operate and maintain. Sarfraz has high hopes that his ideas could revolutionize hydro power in his country and across the globe. He is currently seeking expert confirmation of his ideas; this article provides a brief summary of his ideas along with some of the 3D images he has created. You can help him by leaving your comments at the bottom of the page, or by joining the discussion that inspired this article.

In the beginning, there were algae,
but there was no oil Then, from algae came oil.
Now, the algae are still there, but oil is fast depleting
In future, there will be no oil, but there will still be algae
So, doesn't it make sense to explore if we can again get oil from algae?
This is what we try to do at Oilgae.com - explore the potential of getting oil from algae
