  • Solazyme - A biotechnology company devoted to harnessing the energy-harvesting machinery of photosynthetic microbes to produce valuable products. Exploiting microbial Photosynthesis the Company utilizes proprietary genetic engineering methods to develop commercially relevant, sunlight-driven biochemical pathways.
  • CEHMM Biodiesel Project - The CEHMM biodiesel project is a research and development project investigating biodiesel production processes and the propagation, harvesting, and extraction of oil from both brine and fresh water Algae. This algae oil is to be used as a feedstock for biodiesel production. While algae is one of the most important feedstock considered by CEHMM, other feedstocks are under investigation as practical supplemental crops for area farmers. For example, CEHMM is collaborating with New Mexico State University Agricultural Science Center not only on algae research but also on research to determine if winter canola can offer some diversity to the local supply of oil to be processed into biodiesel.
