Algae Biofuel Plant in Cranston
BioFuels LLC plans to open a pilot biofuel production facility, the company announced Thursday.
The Cranston-based company said the facility would capture emissions from a neighboring power plant and use them to accelerate the growth of algae. The plant will extract vegetable oil from the algae to produce biodiesel fuel. The facility will then send the biodiesel to the power plant, which will use it to partially power a biodiesel-fed generator.
