Fischer-Tropsch process research

Postby Mak » Thu Feb 12, 2009 5:05 pm

I’d like to know about the ongoing research in the Fischer-Tropsch process using algae as the feedstock … any useful links?

I think Solena (www.solenagroup.com ) is experimenting with algae as a feedstock for thermochemical process for biofuels and biochemicals...see this post @ Oilgae Blog

Catalysts used for FT

Postby cacofonix » Fri Feb 13, 2009 7:12 am

And while we are discussing FT, I'd also like some inputs on the catalysts used for these catalytic synthesis process...is it zinc alone, or are there other suitable catalysts?

It is important to know this...because if it is some exotic metal used as catalyst then one needs to figure out how much of that metal is available in the world...if that is not available in a big way, then the question whether it is renewable energy itself becomes moot!
