I've written a children's book about algae which many people, including many phycologists and other adults, tell me is excellent.

It takes a historical perspective, starting off with the evolution of the first photosynthetic bacteria, up to a survey of the algae that are alive today, and discussing the future of algae, including it's potential for oil production.

Algae are much undervalued photosynthetic "plants" that provide a hefty amount of the World's primary production and Oxygen. They deserve a bit more attention than they usually get.I followed this book. It's very useful, if now expensive, little book on diatom structure. Thanks for sharing.
