What will be the yield of methane from algae? Will Yield of methane vary with species?

I have no idea about the strain specific yield.... But according to some estimates,
1 lb Dry Algae (10000 BTU) gives 4200 – 6950 BTU of methane.

The amount of methane from any biomass will depend on the carbon and hydrogen content of the biomass...

As different algae species almost certainly have differing carbon and hydrogen content ( in terms of % wt per dry ton), the amount of CH4 produced from these should differ as well.

I admit this is just a surmise

You need to be more precise in order to get a relevant answer.

Here is a chart from Wikipedia that shows GENERALLY what comes out of a bio-digestor.
Code: Select all
Matter                    %
Methane, CH4            50–75
Carbon dioxide, CO2 2    5–50
Nitrogen, N2             0–10
Hydrogen, H2             0– 1
Hydrogen sulfide, H2S    0– 3
Oxygen, O2               0– 2
