Algae Biophotolysis for Hydrogen Production

Algae Biophotolysis for Hydrogen Production

Postby cacofonix » Mon Feb 02, 2009 8:37 pm

Biophotolysis is an exciting way to produce hydrogen. Algae too can produce hydrogen using biophotolysis. Cyanobacteria and green microalgae split water into molecular hydrogen and oxygen using sunlight under special conditions.

Biological hydrogen evolution provides a sustainable and environmentally friendly way to produce clean energy from renewable resources.

My question is, what are the real bottlenecks for biophotolysis using algae? Is biophotolysis just a research fascination or does it have serious real world applications?
