Use of algae in field other than energy - as fertilizer, food, cattlefeed...

Has anyone done any work and can point me in the direction of some information on using Algae biomass for heating. I have access to a lot of spent grain from brewing process and was looking at experimenting with algae and spent grain combination to make my own fire logs for heating.
-Thanks

Doesn't look like anyone has done this. I am going to try and find some time this summer to experiment with Algae biomass along with my Spent Grain experiments. Should be brewing a lot more starting end of June so I'll have supplies.

In the October 09 issue of Popular Mechanics (available on the web) there is an article about a farmer who is making "algae pellets" similar to wood pellets for home wood stoves, and "algae coal" for powerplant use. You may want to check it out.
