hi,
new to this forum.
I want to know how many tones of algae are required to produce one gallon of bio diesel?

Hi,

The yields depend on the strains of algae...I'm assuming you are using microalgae...

The yield is usually about 20-30% of dry weight. For a ton of algae biomass, it will hence be about 250 Kg of oil. At a sp gr of 0.9, that would be 275 liters = approx 70 gal.

1 T of algae can hence give about 70 gal of oil, approx. One tonne of oil gives approx 1 T of biodiesel...
