1. DaimlerChrysler and Arctic Cat pushing the use of biodiesel blends

2. VISY, one of the world’s largest private packaging and recycling companies, has announced it will trial biodiesel fuel in its Australian trucking fleet. The move, which follows a decision by trucking giant Linfox to test biodiesel in a small number of trucks, has been heralded as a major step for the alternative fuels industry.

3. Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) in Brazil will soon be diverting parts of its soyoil production into refined oil for fuel, a company official said in an interview.
ADM is currently building a biodiesel facility in Rondonopolis, Mato Grosso, Brazil’s largest soy-producing state. The new facility, expected to be up and running by July 2007, will be large enough to produce 180,000 tons of biodiesel annually, according to a company press statement earlier this year.

4. A report says Brazil will need some 800 million liters of biodiesel in 2008 alone if it is to meet the 2% mixture goal – that is, 2% of all diesel should be biodiesel.

5. A new facility that will produce biodiesel fuel made entirely from soybean oil will be built near DeWitt, Ark., USA. Founders of Arkansas SoyEnergy Group, LLC, say they expect to produce the first 100 percent soy-based fuel by late 2007. Arkansas SoyEnergy is believed to be the state’s first biodiesel plant that uses only soybeans. Other biodiesel plants in the state use soybean or cottonseed oil, animal fats or used cooking oils to make biodiesel that is then blended with regular diesel.

6. Argentina and Brazil agreed Monday to work together on the development of
biofuels, a spokeswoman for the government said.

7. Billionaire financier George Soros is considering an up to $500 million
investment in an ethanol plant.

8. New Machine makes biodiesel on the farm – All-Phase BioTech Inc., Yakima, Washington, USA, manufactures machines that convert recycled waste vegetable oil into biodiesel. The company demonstrated the machines during the Central Washington State Fair, held Sept. 22 through Oct. 1 in Yakima.

9. Spain biodiesel news: Bunge Iberica said it has entered into a joint venture with Acciona SA to supply Repsol YPF SA with biodiesel from two new plants. Bunge Iberica said it will supply the biodiesel plants with soybean oil from its newly-constructed oilseed processing and vegetable oil refining facilities in Bilbao and Cartagena.
