A new generation of coal-fired power stations equipped for carbon capture and storage has been given the go-ahead by the government.Up to four such plants, fitted with cutting edge green technology, could be operational by 2020.But how much difference will they make to fighting climate change?
Find out how to make algae biodiesel using algae PBR's and other algae farming technology.
The video shows the Algaeus - 150 mpg plug in hybrid prius with an extra battery pack, running on fuel refined from "green crude", which is oil extracted from algae. This process has been patented by sapphire energy and we'll see if it ever makes it ...
San Diego, home to more than biotechnology companies, is poised to become a Green Houston, as world renowned geneticists, biologists, and engineers at UC San Diego, The Scripps Research Institute and other local research institutions join with their industry counterparts in a broad-scale research effort to develop advanced transportation fuels from algae.
This video provides a nontechnical information as to why the AVS-HDD (Algaeventure Systems - Harvesting, dewatering, drying) technology works so well at removing a solid or semi-solid from a solution (in this case water). This technology has various patent documentations filed additional patent documentation will be filed when required under the patent cooperation treaty for protection in the treaty countries (civilized world). This is a disruptive technology (AVS-HDD) will lead to viable use of algae for fuels, plastics, and other advanced materials. This technology has shown to reduce energy cost associated with harvesting and dewatering by over 99% when compared to pre-concentration (flocculation, settling, floatation) then centrifuge separation - yes a energy cost reduction of 99%. This technology has already shown to work with several micro-algae species of differing types, shapes, mucilage, and sizes, as the technology progresses (technician types of advances) the ability to process an extensive range should emerge.

Congressman Brian Bilbray talks about high efficiency vehicles, originally identified in the innovative vehicle act and put into the FY10 Energy and Water Development and Appropriations Act, along with algae fuel production. Congressman Bilbray led a successful bi-partisan effort in the House of Representatives to secure changes in the Department of Energy's regulations on specific grant programs that would give assistance to the development of ultra-high efficiency vehicles.
Green Star Products, Inc. released the video illustrating some advanced algae production research. Biotech Research, Inc. (BTR), who is a Consortium partner company with GSPI, made the field video. GSPI and BTR announced their plans to build a 100-acre Algae Facility
An algae photobioreactor on the roof of MIT university. The clear polycarbonate tubes are approx 3 meters high, and 10-20 centimeters in diameter. It removes upto 86% of the NOx and 40% of the CO2 of the smokestack emissions that are bubbled through it. The algae are feeding on exhaust with 13% CO2 content. This size algae photobioreactor can't handle the entire exhaust emissions, it would need to be much larger for that. This photobioreactor you see here on the roof of MIT, has since been dismantled and reassembled in Naboomspruit (now called Mookgopong) South Africa at a biodiesel plant.
