USA Algae to Oil Companies, Organizations, Research

1. Sunrise Ridge Holdings - company working on developing commercial commodity scale production of fuels from algae.  They have recently developed a website that describes our activity.

Profile: A private Texas corporation engaged in research and development of algae biomass technology for reduction of water and greenhouse gas pollutants and production of renewable fuel feed stocks and animal feeds. Sunrise Ridge sponsors research in several areas with the University of Texas at Austin, and owns and operates a pilot production facility at the Austin Water Utility's Hornsby Bend plant in Austin, Texas. Their mission is to develop and commercialize algae production systems that are economically successful at commodity scale. They are targeting large potential markets, including bio-diesel and ethanol feed stocks, animal feed supplements, waste water cleanup (nitrogen, phosphorus) and greenhouse gas emission reduction.  Our strategy is to focus on production system scaling and cost issues while harnessing the superior productivity and yields of select algae strains.

2. Leif Stein of Stein Biofuels - email - leif_stein@yahoo.com, Ph - 619-917-1030

Profile: Leif lives in Encinitas, CA (north of San Diego) and is interested in meeting and discussing possible business ideas based on algae and biodiesel with people in Southern California.  He has been doing research into the biodiesel and algae concept for over a year is looking to connect with like-minded people and businesses interested in growing algae for biodiesel production.

3. Dennis Sharp, Fort Collins, Colorado – see Dennis’ article here

4. Algae Sciences (http://www.algaesciences.com) - Currently prototyping first photobioreactor and evaluating business alternatives with thanks to assistance from the Small Business Development Center and the University of Central Florida. Strongly believes there are many commercialization aspects to algae that go from biofuel feedstock oils, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, plastics, elastomers, nutritional supplements, food additives, and perhaps even products that have yet to be invented.

5. I’m on the Management Team at the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.  I’m looking at algae production to satisfy the dual purposes of reducing nutrients from sewage treatment plants and biodiesel production.  We are getting ready to spend millions on nutrient control technologies to improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay.  If algae production could be more cost effective with the added benefit of biodiesel production we need to look into it.  Any thoughts or information you can provide along this line would be appreciated.

6. Try ussec or United States Sustainable Energy Corp. utilizing what is now beginning to get known as the "Rivera Process" named after inventor innovator Mr. John Rivera. Also Sustainable Energy Corp or sstp.

Several interesting links are: www.biocrude.us, www.sstp.us , www.ussec.us , www.biofuelsdigest.com use site search engine for articles.

They can now produce algae based biofuels at their new Baytown Texas facility.

8. Energy Innovation Group - My name is J Scot Comey and I formed the EIG as a direct response to $3.00 per gallon oil. Our group is comprised of scientists, computer people, welders, retirees, etc, the every man's group. Presently we are integrating solar with the production of algae biofuel. Our ultimate goal is to build a machine which can be placed outside a home and have it both grow, harvest, refine, and deliver fuel oil into the home. My education is in plant and soil sciences and also genetics. We have an organic chemist as well. We will be attempting to modify a strain of algae to freely give up its lipids instead of having to kill it to get the lipids. This will in turn reduce the turnaround time for the algae to restock itself. Our other goal is to come up with a way to transform the lipids into useable fuel using an enzymatic process as opposed to a chemical one. In both instances we are making progress and expect to have a prototype within 2 years. If you could include us in your website we may attract more minds. If you have any questions feel free to call me at my home. J Scot Comey 508-222-8397, Mibellaariel@aol.com

9. I am the owner/designer of a site called www.FillmoreFuels.com This

site is dedicated to the advancement of renewable energy. Our current

focus is biodiesel.

Fillmore Fuels is a marketplace for those in the industry to sell

their products that are biodiesel related. In addition, it is a site

for those who are looking to purchase biodiesel related items.

Some of the current items that will be and can be listed for sale: Biodiesel Feedstock - virgin oils, WVO, etc... Items for algae production- photo-bio-reactors, algae cultures, etc...

Fuel- biodiesel, WVO, etc...

Biodiesel Processors- batch and continuous flow types

Diesel Automotives- vehicles, generators, etc...

and many other resources related to the industry, including, the most

important, educational material so that others may share and be paid

for their research.

The site can be utilized as an auction or you can sell items for flat

fees with no need to bid. There is also a forum that can be utilized

to discuss information on production or even on products that are for

sale or that others have purchased.

I am currently doing my reading research on algae and hope to begin

production of a small scale algae system. I am hoping that this site

will help provide the resources needed for hobbiests such as myself to

get involved in renewable energy and algae cultivation.

I am very thankful for the information that is being provided by sites

such as yours and others. Fillmore Fuels is a newly created site but

is an ideal place for like minded people to become more productive in

their bio-fuel endeavors.

I am a committed business man to the biofuel industry and would

greatly appreciate being listed on your site.

Thank you

Wesley Fillmore

11. I have been investigating the potential of algae to remove greenhouse gases AND produce biofuels for about a year now.  I have started a company called Algalogic.  We are a limited liability company out of Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. However, I am located in Los Angeles, California.

We have three areas of interest/research and development.  We want to promote the use of algae for carbon sequestration, waste water treatment, and biofuel production.

We have heard that people/groups are successfully growing algae, but cannot efficiently harvest it.  We have two novel harvesting techniques for which we would like to form a partnership to test.

We believe in open source development of algal technologies in order to frustrate the attempts of big oil to monopolize and kill the patents and technological developments.  This is the future, and it is too important to ignore.

12. Our company known as PABET is planning to construct a number of Algae Biodiesel production plants. Since we are in the beginning stages, we will first build a pilot plant.  After making the necessary improvements to optimize production of biodiesel fuel, we will begin construction of large scale biodiesel production plants from algae in the USA, Europe, Austrialia, China, Japan and Korea.

The purpose of writing to you is to request your help and advise.  Because I am the CEO and responsible for the success of this business, I am in the process of assembling a team of chemical and biotechnolgy engineers who have some experience and skills in this area.  We plan to automate this process as much as possible.  If you should know of any professional engineers with these skill sets, please provide their email addresses, or have them get in touch with me.

Thank you.
