Biodiesel from Algae in India
 
With the urgent need to replace petroleum transporation fuels in future, due to volatality in the oil prices, Bharat Petroleum Corpor ation Ltd (BPCL) on Monday inked a memorandum of understanding with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) to develop alternative renewable energy technology. The broad objective of the MoU was to develop a pilot plant technology for biodiesel production from algae, which possessed excellent biological frame work in its cellular capabilities, including more than 30 per cent of oil in its composition
