Does anyone here have any idea from where I can obtain genome information of biofuel producing algae.. wondering if they are available for free somewhere??

NCBI is a good resource for getting genomes and all kinds of biological data.
Definitely a good place to start. As for genomes that have been genetically mapped and designed for fuel production, companies are highly confidential and usually working on patents if they are superior enough gmos

DNA microarray technologies are very cool. By looking at gene switching under different conditions genes can be pinpointed which are responsible for lipid biosynthesis. Also carotenoids, omega fatty acids, and antioxidant synthesis, can all be deduced as far as their metabolic pathways. There are new cassette kits which these genes can be programmed into plasmids and expressed. Now we have a GMO strain able to make out product. Hurray, save the world!
