Macroalgae as fertilizers

Is it possible to use macroalgae as fertilizers? What are the types of macroalgae which are normally used as fertilizers?

Hi,
It is possible to use macroalgae as fertilizers. I have seen people using Ascophyllum meal, Fucus meal as fertilizers. I have also read that macroalgae extracts are used as soil conditioners. I think algae is dried and then composted, the compost is used as fertilizer.

Hi,
It looks like macroalgae powder is used as feed additive. Macroalgae as feed additive has got more value than fertilizers..I guess the macroalgae is just dried and powdered...

I guess it is fairly easy to see that most biomass can be a fertilizer, as they contain some nutrients that plants need...the question is, how good and cost effective is macroalgae as fertilizer...

and will it put too much salt in my soil?
