How do we start small ??? 5

Hello all, I have been reading about Algae research, I like the idea of CO2 recycling while producing recyclable fuel. The challenge I have is how to start a project small with in my communittee. I will love to get some guidance as I am lost on where to start.

Like the other members have state, we need to be able to act on these great idea but initial start up costs looks high as well as access to oil extraction technology. Any help will be greatley appreciated. Also if there is any one in Great Toronto area who has similar interested and in the same situation as I am, please get in contact with me.

    Hi Mpanchar

It is great a few people like you are practical and and want to move on. Irrespective of the fact that you are short on theory.
I too dont know much. But i am writing this so that someone will correct me and all of us will benefit.
Strain selection is step one. Appropriate to the location and its climatic conditions and soil conditions etc
Strain that grows fast ie doubles earlier than 24 hours, has high oil yield and preferably with a potential to make a nutraceutical or two, is even better

Cultivating without contamination is the trickiest part, they say.
Harvesting methods vary from strain to strain.
Extraction of oil is the easiest - because we will be asking someone to do it, unless you want to do that in a very small scale for some reason.

For Manohar and Mpanchar, if your intention is to capture CO2 and grow algae, i would suggest you to start cultivating spirulina, since it has high market value, it can be grown without contamination in open ponds and the technology is mastered well......
Contact me on my mail account rmaheshv@gmail.com for any help regarding this.......
