Country - United States Role - Student About - I am a student of Architecture and Civil Engineering at UMass Amherst and an amateur artist. Algae has potential application with the heating and cooling systems of a building where it could potential be used to purify and filter air inside a residential or commercial building at part of the heating and cooling system. There is also the possibility that organisms natural trend for homeostasis could be used to help heat or cool the building. Beyond heating and cooling systems, algae might be used to clean gray water into drinking water, reducing utility costs. I am also looking into hydroponic production of larger plants for the same purposes. A major interest is what would become the byproducts of such systems; oils, food, and various bio-polymers. I am hoping to find plans for completed systems and the necessary detailed information to be able to design, build, and experiment with various algae systems. |
