Which is a much better strategy for culturing microalgae to produce lipids and maximizing growth: Genetic manipulation or Culturing it the natural way (Photobioreactors, Culture Media) Any insights

    Given the contamination problems, light management need, fresh / salt water requirement, the care required for the raceway ponds, etc and more importantly the quantity needed, i would hope ultimately the pbr will win.

    No way to keep GE algae from escaping in salt water growth systems. Fresh water has a little more control but the fear will always be there. If GE algae is used in food products the testing will take years.

    I too prefer gm algae and pbr. 

    Otherwise we will get more pundits saying it will take 20 years to make oil from algae on scale.

    gepbr is the fastest to scale.
