I would suggest trying to analyze a liquid plant food called "pure blend pro gro" and another one called "cal-mag". I've known a few places that use this as a cheap fertilizer alternative as opposed to ordering chemicals from Fisher or something. Its used in a 1-6 ratio (pure blend/cal-mag) to grow chlorella. It is used at a rate of 0.5 ml/liter culture per day. It works surprisingly well bringing cultures up g's/l in a few weeks. I would be most interested to know more about the how this fertilizer effects the growth kinetics of algal strains.
i am also interested in plant nutrients to grow algae. where i get this blend?
I've heard that human urine works well. It would probably need to be spiked with phosphorous but it's really high in Nitrogen. I guess it depends on how comfortable you are experimenting.
CaNO3 - 0.25 g/l
MgSO4*7H2O - 0.06 g/l
KH2PO4 - 0.06 g/l
KCl - 0.08 g/l
Fe2Cl6 - one drop of 1% solution
also good result can give 6% solution of birds excrements
I have the product you need to enhance the algae growing my e.mail is harleyrichard82@googlemail.com if you want to know more
how about coffee grounds, free, high in nitrogen
as well as other trace minerals... low ph might be a problem?
How can I get marine micro-algae in powder form commercially?
