Oilgae Club - an Online Community for Algae Fuel Enthusiasts Worldwide.

News, views, analysis and Andres Abhraham 9

Oilgae site has been the source of information for all students, academia, researchers, practising CTOs of algae biofuel companies etc.,
for years.

Now, oilgae club  is a community of algae professionals.

It is only natural that when professionals of a community meet in a conference or elsewhere, they  exchange news about
Algae bio fuel activity from one country to another.
We exchange news and compare news about one process vs another process.
we learn from each others views.
With each news viz a new two way wet process to avoid drying as done by University of Michigan, we all will be keen on knowing more about it.
They will exchange news about other professionals
They will exchange news about latest events/ seminars/ conferences
They will exchange information and views about latest research findings
About latest patents and papers published

By posting a company  news, AA says I take pride in so doing and I take credit for posting that news.

NO way.
I am just sharing what ever I have read. I am hoping experts like Andres Abhram, Larsyn, SAM, Shankar, Georgeonik, Richard spros,
Mia, Parkavi, narsi etc  to comment on such news/ research findings or research directions and tell

1. what are the benefits of such findings
2. how such a finding can reduce the cost or speeden up progress to oil from algae
3. what other directions can research can take to be more efficient

etc etc

AA, to me appears tobe saying that there is nothing new is being found. I cant  agree with him. I mean I disagree with him.
What is known is peanuts. The rest of the universe is unkown.

Research as a generic field and  is for ever.
The more you know, the more you would want to research.

I find the club is evolving into a place where we are sharing news, sometimes sharing the news with views.
This makes me open the club everyday. Visit the club everyday.

I wish there can be more news. And even more views.
Plus I expect experts like AA, Larsyn, SAM Development, Shankar, Oilgae narsi etc etc to  share their views more frequently to enlighten others.

I agree with AA on one matter fully. Sometimes, we dont seem to arrive at conclusions. We are not definitive.
But then as we all are new to the club, may be that is thereason why we are not doing it. As we get to know one another more, may be we will debate more, discuss more and decide clearly.

The other fact is, as algae is still in research phase as said by John Benneman, Jason Pyke of Sapphire energy, narsi of OIlgae, etc., many areas will continue to be grey. Not as AA sees either in black or in white.

AA himself has not replied to a couple of queries for his post " Algae food "

Is it right AA ?

Secondly AA to me somehow appears to mean
Always Angry ?

Am I right AA :-)

Yes. The news and views is what brings me to the club everyday.

I cant believe all the news and all the research are a waste. May be AA knows a lot.

You simply cant write off research in one such sweeping statement. Am sure many more things that we dont know as of now will be known soon thru research.

In fact, besides news, news and views, I would like to have company news, news about companies getting funding, news about who are the funding agencies, news about who are the strategic partners and why like in the case of Solazyme, etc also interests me.

I dont like to read much of local news about small companies, but I am not complaining as there may be others who may want to read them.

I would like to know more about research, research papers, patents, expirirng patents, the potential of patents in the field of algae, researches happening in the universitites, their progress and potential etc.,

AA knows a lot. But he neednt stop us from knowing more - ha hah ah

To all Oilgae friends and before you turn to call me arrogant.....
The one of you that read my posts it might have appeared that most information given are under laid with names and addresses, links to websites, i.e. all information needed to get informed and may be even ask for information from the source. Even with our technology we try to inform as detailed as possible. Sometimes there has to be a limitation of what to make public and what not. There are not only students reading this posts as I could experience good enough, so please forgive if I do nor answer all your questions. Secondly there is the time which I have to spend and as English is nor my mother tongue and it is sometimes a little bit difficult for me to bring down complex correlations in correct and understandable English I tend to simplify and shorten.
So don?t get me wrong, - research is a must! And the saying that I know that I dont know nothing is deep in my heart, in my understanding too.
BUT - here it comes! The flood of information is so immense and meanwhile became literarily a tsunami, so that concentration on vital facts and issues bringing us nearer to "our" final goal can be a hard task. This consideration includes all of us!
Now to the statement, - there is nothing really new. This is an exaggeration, off course and good that it agitates you. And my fault that I did not explain that more specific.
It does exclude scientific approaches off course (we know by now that we don?t know nothing, right!?)but the algae industry as such. I have been through most of the websites of the industry and are still doing it nearly daily. Compared to most of our "competitors" I must say that we are an open book. Mostly I see computerised animations and the announcements that a test facility is being built (see Exxon-Synthetic Genomics). Some of the PBR technology is so sophisticated and ingenious, from flickering lights to enormous plastic tubes that that the question comes up, - who can afford this (have you ever tried to clean some kilometres of plastic tubing!).
It is difficult to judge what the best methods in algae cultivating are, open ponds make as much sense as PBR systems all in the understanding of what you want to achieve - quality or just masses! This is what I mean with concentration. If you have found your way through and have made your path than it might get easier to judge useful information from unnecessary, - whereas it is not said that the unnecessary is not useful. If you have the capacity to store all this, or the technical means to collect and may be use it later, - the better for you.
When you have the intention to run a algae breeding operation economical than you are bound by a very simple rule ? you have to make profits! My impression ? and this is sad to say ? is that a great number of the initiators of algae breeding projects are out after investment money only and not caring too much about the economics which than is easy if you operate with OPM funds (other peoples money!). Correct me if I am wrong. This makes me a little bit angry because if the investors, the financial industry or the tax payer calls for results and all there is are test facilities with little production and the big questions arises, - where did all the money go? ? than it will fall bag on the algae industry as such. And believe me ? this time will come.

    Algae NOva is AA.
Good that he has agreed to research. I guess he will agree to other postings also, provided they dont crowd the place.

We need to have the information classified as
    a. Company news
    b.Press release
    c.Industry news
    d. Events/ seminars/ conferences
    e. webinars
    f. Research findings
    g. papers published
    h. patents

If the postings are classified as above, and if they are colored/ designed differently, people can read what they want to read and skip what they dont want to read.

AA will be less angry :-)

Thanks to Veronica for starting of this idea of what we want to discuss in a club and what we would do if we were to meet offline.
    Thanks veronica !

HOpe the Oilgae.club is reading all this and hope they will do the needful.

Thanks oilgae for facilitating such a nice assemblage of algae people OR as SAM calls
FOA - Friends of Algae !!

Just started reading your posts, they are I must agree very very interesting and very different and realistic from what other members are posting! Makes me get a feel of what s happening in the algae energy industry!.. Thank you!

Hallo Luis, how generous of you to give me credit of not being a fool!If you ask me politely I might even agree that our world is a disk.
Your suppestion for a better classification is indeed very helpful and it is just what we need to have. It would indeed calm me down and save me from geting a heart attack.
Veronica, you have a funny way to look at things. In one way you "demand" full information, on the other hand you state in your profile that the work you do is confidential. Is this your understanding of "sharing"? No, I am not attaking you! We are all withholding information and are trying to get as much information as possible to be "enlighted", to prevent us for making mistakes or sometimes even get better ideas from someone else - Honi soit qui mal y pense -
character is when we are giving credit.
