Recent work in Iran on algae oil 6
See the below thread which is about the recent works in Iran on algae oil production:http://www.comsurl.com?showentry=35

City - Shiraz Country - Iran (Islamic Republic of) Role - Industry professional About - I am new to biotechnology and biofuel. I am willing to learn about algae oil and its role in the future of energy. I'm a bit skeptical about effectiveness of algae to produce oil and I think there are other more effective ways of using the energy coming from the sun. |
As you mentioned earlier, it is Chlamydomonas that they are working on...
Just wondering, is there any work being on solar energy (either PV or thermal) in Iran? I guess your country with its fairly large area and good sunshine could be well suited for solar as well?
It says in the blog that they had registered the genotype of chlamydomonas in the 'National Center for Biological association', my question is, was it Shiraj University the first to register the entire genotype or it is only a particular gene that takes effect??
Many works are being done on green energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal ... in Iran.
We have a 250KW pilot solar power plant in Shiraz too.

Dear Hasseli,
I would like to ask you about if you did cultivate Chlamydomonas already in a large scale for biomass production like in Open ponds or Photobioreactors. If yes, Please How much the final product of biomass, oil and biodiesel per acre in one day?
Best Wishes
Dear Abomohra,
Actually, as far as I know the researchers here are just working on a pilot scale project. I myself also want to know more about it. What about Egypt, is there any large or medium scale algae oil plant there?
Regards,
Hasseli
Dear Hasseli,
Thanks for your reply. Regarding your question, there is no large or even medium scale for algae oil production in Egypt.
Best Regards
