{"id":876,"date":"2009-01-20T03:54:00","date_gmt":"2009-01-20T03:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oilgae.com\/blog\/?p=876"},"modified":"2009-01-20T03:54:00","modified_gmt":"2009-01-20T03:54:00","slug":"kentucky-univ-general-atomics-explore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/blog\/2009\/01\/kentucky-univ-general-atomics-explore.html","title":{"rendered":"Kentucky Univ &amp; General Atomics &#8211; Explore Enzyme, Algae Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You are at: <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/blog\/\">Oilgae Blog<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Researchers at the Center for Renewable and Alternative Fuel Technologies at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky., are partnering with San Diego-based General Atomics to study the potential for converting cellulosic biomass into biodiesel and ultimately jet fuel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership links Kentucky and EKU with an international business leader that is turning its focus and considerable resources to biomass-to-fuel initiatives,\u201d said university President Doug Whitlock. \u201cThis project is different in that it will be focused on the production of biodiesel and ultimately biobased jet fuel using nonfood cellulosic materials in a process that will utilize algae to convert the biomass into bio-oils.
