Though the world has recently started recognizing Spirulina, a single celled algae, as a wonder source of protein over the last few decades, the fact has been noted in Indian literature for ages, and even finds mention in books like the Charaka Samhita. Hence, a city family has taken it upon itself to try it as a solution for malnutrition among tribal children, especially in Vidarbha.\"\"<\/p>\n

They have made it their mission to try Spirulina in combination with certain ayurvedic components to combat malnutrition in tribal children. In fact, the trio has already conducted a study on 163 children from Standard VIII for three months, and obtained very encouraging results in the form of increase in not just weight and height of children, but better academic performance as well.<\/p>\n
