But like other genetically modified (GM) species, if they aren\u2019t contained, they pose a threat to their surroundings, says <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plentymag.com\/features\/2008\/09\/gm_algae.php\">this interesting article<\/a> from Plenty Magazine<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou could destroy a whole ecosystem,\u201d says David Bayless, a researcher at Ohio University.
