A two-stage hydrothermal liquefaction process was used for this purpose. A low temperature liquefaction <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-5496 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/microalgae-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"microalgae\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/microalgae-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.oilgae.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/microalgae-45x45.jpg 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>treatment hydrolysed proteins and separated nitrogen to the aqueous phase which was later removed for analysing nutrient and toxic concentrations.<\/p>\n<p>Results showed that the low temperature pre-treatment was most effective at higher temperatures removing 45% of nitrogen present in algae solids.
