When <em>Chlamydomonas reinhardtii<\/em> is cultivated in a phosphorus deficient medium, TAGs accumulate rapidly due to the overexpression of an enzyme called CrDGTT4, which in turn is triggered by gene promoter SQD2.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers genetically manipulated both the enzyme and its promoter into NIES-2145 to analyse its effects on TAG production.
