Professor Stefan Mecking from University of Konstanz says that this process can transform the algae oil to a high quality chemical constituent. This will benefit a number of chemical based industries. The professor adds that the algal oil has a different structure that makes attractive for the production of entirely different materials rather than conventional oils do.
