The building, named as BIQ, designed by Splitterwerk Architects features a bio-adaptive fa\u00e7ade of microalgae which is being cultivated in glass elements.<\/p>\n<p>The algae are then used to produce energy, and can also control light and provide shade.<\/p>\n<p>The algae are continuously supplied with liquid nutrients and carbon dioxide via a separate water circuit running through the fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n<p>With the aid of sunlight, the algae can photosynthesise and multiply in a regular cycle until they can be harvested.
