INRA has collaborated with 45 partners for this project and it hopes to be one of the top\u00a0Institutes of Excellence worldwide in the field of microalgae biorefinery.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Institute, more than $ 2 billion has been invested in microalgae research and development, but most of the research has been carried out in the US so far. More recently European nations have also started showing interest in algae energy. The Institute also quoted new algae research projects EnAlgae and AB-SIG being carried out in Europe and GreenStars is the latest of these kind of projects.
