The first phase of the project consisted of building Green Valley Biofuels, LLC, permitted for 35 Million gallons a year (expandable to 50 million gallons a year) biodiesel plant in Warrenville, South Carolina, which was completed in 2010.

In Phase II, ABS will own a substantial ownership interest in the Green Valley biodiesel plant and will complete the first of several algae production facilities. According to the company, algae development is ideally suited in the Southeastern United States, because of the availability of water and excellent climate. Over the next 5 years ABS will develop multiple sites in the Southeastern United States to help meet increased demand for algae oil. ABS may acquire low cost closed textile sites with their extensive infrastructure improvements that can be easily be modified to grow and process large volumes of algae oil and starch for ethanol, fertilizer, or animal and fish feed.

Algae Bioenergy Solutions works closely with BARD Holding Inc., which is managing the technical side of the venture. BARD is a U.S. based commercial-scale algae production company located near Philadelphia, PA. Over the past 4 years, BARD has developed a unique algae production system to produce high-grade algae oil which can be converted to biodiesel and jet fuel, as well as used in numerous products in the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical markets. The production system utilizes modular photo-bioreactors which are vertical chambers that provide an optimal 24/7 growth environment for algae to flourish. In late March BARD shifted from R & D to commercialization phase in its Morrisville facility.

Read More: http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/business/local-business/2011-06-15/project-will-use-algae-biodiesel?v=1308179185

Some interesting links

Building Energy Analytics

Some Innovative & Unique Solar Power

Algae Bioenergy Solutions (ABS), LLC, a Georgia-based algae-to-fuel company is planning to start its algae biofuel production the beginning of July.
